The two connected musically and were able to create something different than anything they’ve birthed before as individuals. This dream-pop tune takes the listener on a deep journey of life, trust and love with the poetic lyrics and majestic sounds of strings and piano.
The creation of ‘Solid Ground’ was nurtured over some months whilst Jordan and Jim’s connection grew as artists making the song very authentic.
about JORDAN BONE
Jordan, a published author, poet, life coach and social media personality has always been drawn to music and especially the lyrics. Although she had never taken herself seriously as a songwriter or singer despite it being one of her dreams and is always writing. One day over a glass of wine Jim strummed his guitar and that’s when the first line of the song, “I get in my own head”, was born. In 2005, Jordan had a life changing car accident which left her paralysed from the chest down almost dying at the scene. Whilst being strangled by her seatbelt laying upside down in the car she sang, or more likely whispered, Candi Staton’s hit ‘You’ve Got The Love’ to avoid drifting in to the light. She proclaimed in that moment that “I can’t die I have so much to do”. It feels like singing kept Jordan on this earth so releasing a debut song 18 years after such tragedy seems like some magical twist of fate.
about JIM KAKES
Jim a.k.a. Dimitrios Kakes, born and raised in Athens, Greece is a multitalented musician, songwriter, composer and versatile producer. He has a background in classical music and was awarded a masters degree in songwriting at the University of East London. He is also a triple threat when it comes to instruments as plays the guitar, the bass and the piano. He has written over a staggering 100 songs, performed more than 100 shows across Europe including 10 cities and 30 countries. With all of the combined talent and experience this song is undoubtedly in the best hands. Despite being so talented with an impressive musical background he still had the energy and patience to allow Jordan to still feel like she could co-write the song with confidence.
THE PROCESS
“This was a fun collaborative process and it exists all because Jordan and Jim trusted and understood one another as they got deeper into the project. They directed and filmed their own music video and had total control over the entire piece of art making it very personal to them both. The video has a dreamy, vintage aesthetic which felt very important for the direction in which they want to go. This is more than a song, it can create hope and inspire other’s to create despite any adversities or struggles by following your heart and being brave.”
